We were thrilled to take delivery of a new Lift for the indoor arena this week, funded by donations from The Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust and the Davies family.
The motorised platform will allow disabled riders, including wheelchair users, direct access to a pony by raising the platform to the level of the stirrups. The platform will also hold the volunteers who assist in the transfer of the rider to the pony. It will provide a safer, enhanced experience for all our riders, mounting will be a much more comfortable experience for our ponies and being able to adjust the height for each rider reduces the risk of lifting/twisting injuries being incurred by helpers.
In recognition of the generous donation, we have named the platform (and the viewing gallery) as the Sir Peter O’Sullevan Area. We hope it will even more people can benefit from the benefits of equine therapy.
